“Bea” Has Left $300,000 to LGBT Youths

The Star of The Golden Girls (popular American TV show of 80-90-es) and legendary actress, comedian and singer, Beatrice (“Bea”) Arthur, who was also the prominent advocate for women’s and LGBT rights, bequeathed a monetary gift to The Ali Forney Center, a New York City safe shelter for homeless LGBT youth, of $300,000. The Ali Forney Center announced about the news on Tuesday, October 27.
The Center currently works on housing as well as health and family programs for at risk LGBT teens and young adults. Arthur’s charitable gift will go towards the purchase of a new building that will house 12 additional youths, and it will be named in her honor.
