The very interesting book has been published in Beirut, Lebanon with the title,”Bareed Mista3jil: True Stories”. The Arabic name directly translates to “Rush Mail”. The book is the first official publication ever about lesbian, bisexual, queer and questioning women, and transsexual persons in Lebanon. It was published by the Lebanese LB organization Meem, and was launched by other Lebanese rights groups, the Feminist Collective and the League of Independent Activists (Indyact) in Beirut, on May 30. Selected excerpts were read during the evening that was attended by over 400 people.
The publication is a collection of 41 true and personal stories from lesbian, bisexual, queer and questioning women, and transgender persons from all over Lebanon. As the review says on the book’s website, it comes “to dispel the myths and to reveal a glimpse of the lives existing invisibly and silently in different Lebanese communities.”
“Rush Mail” is bilingual, already available in both English and Arabic versions at all major Lebanese bookstores from the beginning of June. Soon it will be available for sale online as well.
