Unprecedented Grants Competition

On November 2, for the first time in Georgia the local fund - The Women’s Fund in Georgia has announced grants competition for overcoming discrimination and homophobia against women based on sexual or gender identity.

According to the competition announcement on the website of the fund, the competition aims to support initiatives related to empowerment and protection of rights of lesbian, bisexual and transgender people (LBT). The eligible groups to apply for a grant are: women’s organizations, LGBT organizations, human rights’ organizations, initiative groups, and individuals that are working on women’s rights’ issues. The geographic focus of the competition is the regions as well as the capital of Georgia.

The competition is open for women’s innovative initiatives, including research, informational and educational activities; workshops, seminars, campaigns and art initiatives; activities that aim to increase visibility of lesbian, bisexual and transgender groups, empower them and advocate for the protection of their rights.
